Uttar Pradesh is the 2nd largest state in India The economics of Uttar Pradesh is mainly based on agriculture and about 65% of the total population is dependent on agriculture. The agricultural sector plays an important role in the economic development of the state. As per the 2014-15 survey, about 165.98 lakh hectares (68.7%) of the land is used for agriculture. According to Agriculture Survey 2011-12, there are 233.25 lakh farmers in the state. It is the result of the hard work and efforts of the farmers that the state has become self-reliant in the field of food security and is moving towards exceeding the requirement.
- 1st Rank in Agriculture Production- Aonla, Consumption of Fertilizer, Guava, Honey, Horticulture, Mango, Mushroom, Muskmelon, Peas, Potato, Sugarcane, Watermelon, Wheat, Total Food grains.
- 2nd Rank in Agriculture Production- Bajra, Barley, Rice, Vegetables.
- 3rd Rank in Agriculture Production- Arhar/ Tur, Rapeseed Mustered, Tobacco, Total Fruit.
