PPSC PCS Selection Process Overview

PPSC PSC Selection Process 2022 consists of two main stages. The first stage of examination consists of multiple choice questions in the question papers, and the second stage comprises subjective questions and a written answer to those questions. After clearing both the stages of the exam, the candidates have to go for the final round of the interview.

PPSC PCS Selection Process for Prelims

The PCE consists of two papers and each of them is of 200 marks. The question paper is objective in nature. The exam pattern for Prelims examination are as follows-

  • The Paper 1 and Paper 2 consists of objective type questions that are multiple type questions.
  • The physically disbaled candidates will be given additional 40 minutes to the 2 hours allotted for the papers.
  • There is no negative marking in the preliminary examination.
  • The question paper is bilingual- English and Punjabi.
  • PCE is a screening test for selected candidates who are eligible for the Mains examination.

PPSC PCS Selection Process for Mains

The Mains exam of PPSC PCS consists of seven papers and all the papers are descriptive in nature. Papers are of 100, 150 and 250 marks and total marks is 1500 including interview section. The exam pattern for PPSC PCS Mains exam are as follows-

PPSC PCS interview

There are some important points which should be kept in mind while going for the interview round. Candidates must follow below mentioned points carefully.

  • Candidates who have cleared the Prelims and Mains are called for an interview and not more than 3 times they are called as per the advertised vacancies.
  • The candidates who have cleared the Mains examinations nd meet all the eligibility criteria has been called for an interview:
  • If the candidate scores 45% aggregate in all the papers. Therefore, the aggregate of each paper includes the aggregate of the General studies paper that is paper 1, paper 2, paper 3 and paper 4. 
  • If the candidate is unable to score 45% aggregate, then the commission lowers the percentage up to 40% in general, 35% for SC and STs. Hence the minimum percentage will not change.
  • The qualified candidates' names will be arranged in order of merit. The arrangements will be based on the aggregate marks in Mains,Prelims examination and interview. 

PPSC PCS Final Selection Process

The final selection of the candidates for the PPSC PCS exam will be done by verifying all the documents of the candidates. The final selection will be done based on the following points mentioned below.

  • Fulfillment of the eligibility criteria
  • Marks obtained in the Prelims and Mains Examination
  • Marks obtained in the Interview
  • Fitness in the pre-employment medical examination

  • The PPSC PCS selection process for the Mains exam is to qualify all the seven papers. All the papers of the Mains Examination are descriptive in nature. 

  • In the PPSC PCS examination, there is no negative marking. Moreover, there can be negative marking for any objections to the answer key.

     

  • No, the marks scored in Prelims will not be counted for PPSC PCS final selection. It is only the screening test for selecting candidates who will be eligible to take the Mains examination.
