JKPSC Syllabus 2021

The Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has released the revised KAS syllabus on the official website @jkpsc.nic.in. The exam is conducted in 3 stages: two written exams and one personal interview. The candidate must be knowledgeable in various topics to clear both the JKPSC Prelims and Mains exams. JKPSC Phase 1 (JKPSC Prelims) consists of two papers containing objective questions( Multiple-Choice Questions). They are:

The total marks obtained in the Prelims are 450, with 150 marks for paper 1 and 300 marks for paper 2. Two hours are allotted for each paper of the JKPSC phase 1 exam. The JKPSC Phase 1 Syllabus 2021 has been given in the sections below.

JKPSC Prelims Syllabus 2021 For Paper 1

Paper 1 of JKPSC Prelims will be based on General Studies. The paper is mandatory for all candidates. The JKPSC Paper 1 Syllabus 2021 for this paper covers the following niches in the General Studies category

  • General Science
  • Mental Ability
  • Current Events and Affairs of International and National Importance
  • Indian Politics 
  • Indian Economy
  • Indian National Movement
  • History of the country
  • World Geography

Questions from the General Science section often test the basic understanding of science from the perspective of observations and experience in encounters of our day-to-day lives. The section may also include questions from specific fields. The questions related to History will emphasize the historical events and the social, economic, and political aspects of checking the candidate's in-depth knowledge on the subject. Questions on the Geography of India will focus on the physical, social, and economic aspects. This will include Indian agriculture and the natural resources of the country. 

The Indian Polity and Economic section of questions will evaluate the candidate's knowledge of the country's political system and hierarchy, from the base to the top tier. Candidates must be knowledgeable in community development and planning in India. Questions on Indian National Movement will include the events leading up to the independence of the country and the effect of nationalism.

JKPSC KAS Mains Syllabus 2021

Those candidates who clear the JKPSC Prelims are eligible to write the JKPSC Mains exam. The score obtained by the candidates in the Mains exam will be considered while releasing the final merit list. The second phase of the exam will consist of 8 papers. Each paper in the JKPSC KAS Mains exam will have a total duration of 3 hours.

JKPSC Mains Syllabus 2021 For Paper 1

Paper 1 of the JKPSC Mains Exam 2021 will test the candidate's ability to understand the English language and whether they can express ideas well. The JKPSC KAS Mains English Syllabus contains questions including concerning

  • Reading comprehension of given prose and passages.
  • Writing skills
  • Usage of vocabulary
  • Essay

The English paper will be of the Matriculation level. The paper is of qualifying nature, and marks obtained will not be calculated towards the final result.

JKPSC KAS Mains Syllabus 2021 For Paper 2

The paper contains questions to write essays on the specified topic. Candidates will be evaluated on the arrangement of ideas and the use of vocabulary, and the conciseness of the points. This paper requires candidates to practice writing essays in English regularly.

JKPSC Mains Paper 3 & Paper 4 Syllabus 2021

Paper 3 and paper 4 of the JKPSC Mains exam will be from General Studies. The topics in the section include:
