Answer: C. Pure Resistive
The power factor of a Pure Resistive circuit will be unity.
Solution:
The power factor in an AC circuit can be defined as the ratio of real power to the apparent power of the circuit.
⇒cosΦ = real power (P)/apparent power (S)
We can further define power factor as the cosine of phase angle (or) phase displacement between voltage and current of an element.
In case pure inductance current lags voltage by 90° and in case of pure capacitance current leads voltage by 90°
Then power factor of a purely inductive or capacitive circuit is cosΦ =cos 90°=0
And in the case of pure resistance, the current is in phase with voltage, i.e., power factor angle ϕ=0°,
So, for a resistive load, power factor cosϕ =cos 0° =1
The power factor of a Pure Resistive circuit will be unity.
