GATE Electrical Engineering (EE) 2022 Notification Latest Updates

GATE EE 2022 Admit Card has been released! Candidates have to check the details related to the GATE exam by referring to the GATE admit card 2022. Earlier, IIT Kharagpur had delayed the GATE 2022 admit card release date for the electrical engineering exam. The GATE EE hall ticket has been released on Earlier, the GATE hall ticket was supposed to be released on 3rd January 2022 and then on 7th January but again it has been delayed. The GATE EE Admit Card was released on 15th January 2022

GATE Electrical Engineering (EE) 2022 notification has been released on IIT Kharagpur's official website earlier. This year GATE 2022 exam will take place on 5, 6, 12, and 13 February 2022. Candidates who possess the required eligibility criteria for GATE 2022 for the Electrical exam can apply online through the GATE 2022 GOAPS portal. Candidates who are in their final year or in their third year of graduation or have graduated can apply for GATE 2022. This year GATE has a total of 29 papers due to the introduction of two new papers in the GATE 2022 exam, Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture as one of the papers, and Geomatics Engineering paper.

Changes in GATE 2022 Exam

As you know that GATE 2022 is being organised by IIT Kharagpur, therefore, as per a meeting organised by the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, held on 22nd May, approval has been made for the inclusion of the two new papers. 

  • As per the latest updates received, there will be an introduction of two new papers in the GATE 2022 Examination. Thus, GATE 2022 will have a total of 29 papers instead of 27 papers.
  • The two new papers that will be introduced in GATE 2022 exam are Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture as one of the papers, and Geomatics Engineering being the other paper.
  • Further, with the number of applications for GATE being received in lakhs, the number of exam centres for GATE 2022 exam is also being increased. 
  • Places like Shirdi, Latur, Akola, and Dhule which never had a centre for GATE exam are being included in GATE 2022 exam.
  • GATE was opened for students from Arts and Commerce background in 2021 and will continue in 2022 as well.
  • GATE 2022 will be opted by both 3rd and 4th-year students as per the change that was made in 2021 by IIT Bombay

What is GATE?

GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an All-India level examination conducted once every year. The purpose of GATE exam is for Post-graduate engineering admissions and screening for entry-level engineering jobs. With a good score in GATE EE exam, you will be eligible to take admission for M.Tech in Indian or foreign universities. Further, you will also be able to take up a job in any Indian PSU. To qualify for the GATE Exam, you need to score the required cut off marks as per your category and subject. 

GATE EE (Electrical Engineering) is a field of engineering that deals with the applications of electronics, electricity and electromagnetism. This field is now subdivided into electronics, digital computers, computer engineering, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, radio-frequency engineering, signal processing, instrumentation, and microelectronics.

GATE Electrical Engineering Eligibility Criteria 2022

For GATE 2021, the eligibility criteria was relaxed by IIT Bombay. Hence, you may expect the eligibility criteria for GATE Electrical Engineering 2022 exam to be the same. Here are the GATE 2022 eligibility criteria for aspiring candidates.

  • An applicant studying in the 3rd or higher years of any UG degree is eligible to appear for the GATE-2022 examination.
  • Also, Candidates who have completed any degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts are eligible to apply.
  • There is no age limit to apply for the GATE 2022 exam subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.
  • Students who are from Nepal, Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and United Arab Emirates (UAE) must have completed or pursuing final year studies or in the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or equivalent to apply for GATE 2022.

How to Apply Online for GATE EE 2022?

Follow the steps given below to understand how to apply online for GATE EE 2022 exam

  • Visit the GOAPS website. GOAPS is GATE Online Application Processing System.
  • The first step is to register on the website using your Full Name, a valid e-mail address, mobile number and a password of your choice.
  • Login to the GOAPS using your Enrollment ID and the chosen password.
  • Fill the application form with all the required details.
  • Upload the scanned documents, photograph and signature as per the specifications

GATE EE Exam Pattern 2022

Candidates must understand the GATE EE selection process and the exam pattern in a comprehensive manner before beginning their exam preparation. 

GATE EE exam pattern 2022 will be released along with the detailed brochure. The GATE Electrical Engineering exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of three kinds of questions, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. The GATE Exam will be for a duration of 3 hours.

GATE EE Selection Process 2022

The GATE EE selection procedure is a two-step process. That GATE EE examination results in a GATE score. The GATE score is then used to apply to different institutes via CCMT (Centralised Counselling for M.Tech/M.Plan) process for admissions. The GATE score remains valid for three years from the date of the announcement of results.

GATE EE Admit Card 2022

GATE EE Admit Card 2022 has been available on the official website. Candidates who have applied successfully has been issued the GATE EE 2022 Admit Card to take the online examination. You will need your registration number and password to log in to download GATE 2022 hall ticket for GATE EE. The GATE EE admit card 2022 shall include information about your GATE Examination Centre, exam date and time.

Candidates must check and verify all the details mentioned on the admit card. 

GATE EE Result 2022

GATE EE Result will be released in March as per the previous year trend. The result for GATE Electrical Exam is decided on the basis of the final answer key that is released after validating the objections raised by candidates in the provisional answer key that is released in February. The GATE EE Cut off marks is also released on the date of declaration of the GATE EE result. After the declaration of the GATE Result, the authorities will release the GATE Scorecard for the candidates obtaining the cut off marks. The scorecard of GATE is a qualifying marks statement for the candidates to pursue higher education or get a job in PSU.
