WB SET Exam Pattern 2022 is set by West Bengal College Service Commission in the detailed WBSET exam notification 2021.  West Bengal College Service Commission has released the notification for WBSET 2021 exam. The agency has announced that the  WBSET 2021 Exam date is 9th January 2022. West Bengal College Service Commission conducts WBSET in 33 subjects and it is an OMR based examination.

WB SET Exam Pattern 2022 Overview

The WBSET test structure is highlighted in the exam pattern, which includes the total number of questions, exam time, marking scheme, total marks, and subjects for all 33 disciplines. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are the two parts of the WB SET exam. Paper 1 of the WB SET is the same for all candidates, while Paper 2 is divided into 33 subjects. Candidates must take both papers and pass them in order to qualify. There are objective multiple-choice questions in both papers (MCQs).

WBSET Official Notification 2021-22

  • WB SET 2022 will have two papers. Paper 1 will be common for all applicants.
  • Paper 1 has two parts - Part A is General Knowledge and Part B Aptitude in Teaching.
  • Paper 2 is based on the post-graduation subject of the candidate.
  • The questions will be of Objective type i.e. MCQs.

West Bengal SET Selection Proceducre

WBSET  Selection Process: WBSET selection process is exactly similar to the UGC NET Exam and other SET Exams of other states. For qualifying the WBSET candidates must cross the cutoff. The selection procedure of WBSET is determined according to the selection process used by UGC, New Delhi. For qualifying, WBSET candidates must come in the top 6 % of students. Those who qualify WBSET Exam will become eligible for Assistant Professor in the state of West Bengal. The detailed WBSET selection process is given below.

The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) acts as State Agency for the West Bengal State and conducts the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WBSET). As per the WBSET selection procedure candidates must appear in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must choose the subjects that they studied in their Post-graduation.

WBSET Selection Process 2022: Step-Wise Details

  • Step- I: The total number of candidates to be qualified for West Bengal SET, i.e those who will become eligible for Assistant Professor shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of SET.
  • Step- II: The reservation policy of West Bengal will be used to allocate reservations for different categories.
  • Step- III: For the General/EWS category, the candidates must appear in both the papers and secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together. For SC, ST, OBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer)/PWD and Transgender the aggregate must be at least 35%.
  • Step- IV: The number of candidates to be declared qualified in any subject for a particular category is derived as per the following methodology illustrated below:


WBSET Minimum Qualifying Marks & Merit List

Candidates must score minimum marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined to qualify for WBSET. The minimum marks criteria apply differentially for the General category and reserved category. For Qualifying WBSET candidates must score more than the cutoff. After the WBSET Exam is conducted, a merit list is released of successful candidates. WBSET Merit List

West Bengal College Service Commission announces the WBSET Merit List after the exam is completed. The merit list contains the list of candidates who successfully qualify for the WBSET exam and will be eligible for Assistant Professor in West Bengal.

WBSET Exam Pattern FAQs

  • WB SET Paper-1 is of 1 hour and Paper 2 is two hours. There is a gap of half-hour in paper-1 and paper-2.

  • West Bengal  SET will be conducted in offline mode i.e. OMR based.

  • There are 33 subjects in WBSET Exam.

  • Paper-1 consist of 50 questions, each question is of 2 marks and Paper-2 consist of 100 questions, each question is of 2 marks. There is no negative marking.
