WB SET Questions Pattern 2023 is set by West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) in the exam notification on the official website. WB SET exam pattern remains the same for all the subjects. The exam has two papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Phase 2. Check the highlights of the exam, including the total number of questions, marking scheme, exam duration for both papers, and more.

WB SET Questions Pattern 2023

WB SET Question Pattern structure is highlighted in the exam pattern, which includes the total number of questions, exam time, marking scheme, and total marks for all 33 disciplines. Paper 1 and 2 are the two parts of the WB SET exam. Paper 1 of the WB SET is the same for all candidates, while Paper 2 is divided into 33 subjects. Candidates must take both papers and pass them to qualify. There are objective multiple-choice questions in both papers (MCQs). Check the highlights of the WB SET paper pattern below:

  • WB SET 2023 will have two papers. Paper 1 will be common for all applicants.
  • Paper 1 has two parts: Part A is General Knowledge and Part B Aptitude in Teaching.
  • Paper 2 is based on the post-graduation subject of the candidate.
  • The questions are of Objective type, i.e., MCQs. 

WBSET Questions Pattern is provided in the table. The exam is conducted offline, i.e., in OMR-based pen and paper mode. The questions will be of 2 marks each, and there will be no negative marking. Check the exam timing and shifts in the table below:

WB SET Questions Pattern 2023: Subjects

West Bengal SET Selection Proceducre

WBSET  Selection Process: WBSET selection process is exactly similar to the UGC NET Exam and other SET Exams of other states. For qualifying the WBSET candidates must cross the cutoff. The selection procedure of WBSET is determined according to the selection process used by UGC, New Delhi. For qualifying, WBSET candidates must come in the top 6 % of students. Those who qualify WBSET Exam will become eligible for Assistant Professor in the state of West Bengal. The detailed WBSET selection process is given below.

The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) acts as State Agency for the West Bengal State and conducts the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WBSET). As per the WBSET selection procedure candidates must appear in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must choose the subjects that they studied in their Post-graduation.

WBSET Selection Process 2022: Step-Wise Details

  • Step- I: The total number of candidates to be qualified for West Bengal SET, i.e those who will become eligible for Assistant Professor shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of SET.
  • Step- II: The reservation policy of West Bengal will be used to allocate reservations for different categories.
  • Step- III: For the General/EWS category, the candidates must appear in both the papers and secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together. For SC, ST, OBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer)/PWD and Transgender the aggregate must be at least 35%.
  • Step- IV: The number of candidates to be declared qualified in any subject for a particular category is derived as per the following methodology illustrated below:

WBSET Minimum Qualifying Marks & Merit List

Candidates must score minimum marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined to qualify for WBSET. The minimum marks criteria apply differentially for the General category and reserved category. For Qualifying WBSET candidates must score more than the cutoff. After the WBSET Exam is conducted, a merit list is released of successful candidates. WBSET Merit List

West Bengal College Service Commission announces the WBSET Merit List after the exam is completed. The merit list contains the list of candidates who successfully qualify for the WBSET exam and will be eligible for Assistant Professor in West Bengal.

WB SET Exam Pattern FAQs

  • WB SET Paper-1 is of 1 hour and Paper 2 is two hours. There is a gap of half-hour in paper-1 and paper-2.

  • West Bengal  SET will be conducted in offline mode i.e. OMR based.
