WB SET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2021

West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WBSET 2021): WBSET Application Form 2021 link has been activated now. The WBSET 2021 Online application form is available from 16th August to 15th September 2021. Candidates can apply online for the West Bengal State Eligibility Test 2021 exam at the official website.

Candidates must take the WB SET solely in the topic of their Post Graduation. If a candidate's topic is not on the list of WBSET subjects, he or she may apply for the UGC NET/Joint CSIR-UGC Test, which is held twice a year.

WB SET Age Limit 2021

There is no upper age limit for applying for WBSET.

WB SET Educational Qualifications

  • For General and EWS candidates, a master degree with 55% marks from Universities/Institutions recognised by UGC is compulsory to be eligible for this exam, for the SC/ST/OBC/Transgender category the minimum marks required will be 50%. 
  • Candidates can only apply for the subject of their master degree. If a candidate's subject is not included in the WBSET subject list, the candidate may appear on the UGC NET/Joint CSIR-UGC test that is held twice a year.
  • Candidates who are still pursuing their masters or are waiting for the qualifying exam's results are also eligible for WBSET. The said candidate must complete a master's degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of the SET result and should have the minimum required percentage.

Exemptions to WB SET Exam Eligibility

  • A relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required, will be provided to SC/ST/OBC/Transgender candidates. 
  • Degree holders with a PhD who completed the master's examination prior to September 19, 1991 (regardless of the announcement date of the result) must be eligible for a 5% relaxation. 
  • The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET/SET.
  • The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India.
  • For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
