  • Both male and female candidates can apply for the Kerala SET.
  • Candidates for the Kerala SET must hold an MSc. Ed degree in mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany, or zoology from one of the regional institutes of education supported by the NCERT, with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • Those who have an MSc. Ed degree in life science from one of the regional institutes of education (with not less than 50% marks or grade) is also eligible to apply for the Kerala SET in botany and zoology.
  • Candidates for the Kerala State Eligibility Test are not required to hold a B.Ed. the degree to apply for the disciplines of Anthropology, Commerce, Gandhian Studies, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics.
  • Candidates can take the SET with English as their chosen subject if they hold a second-class Master's degree in Communicative English with at least 50% of the required marks and a B.Ed.
  • Candidates without a B.Ed. degree who have earned Dl.Ed. or LTTC in Arabic, Urdu, or Hindi are also eligible to apply for the Kerala SET exam.
  • Candidates who have earned a B.Ed. in Hindi from the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha are excused from having to present an equivalency certificate because universities have accepted the degree in Kerala.
  • Candidates who completed their education through open or correspondence programs that a university has not accredited in Kerala are ineligible to attempt the Kerala SET.
  • Candidates must present certificates of recognition and equivalency from any relevant Universities in Kerala if they obtained their qualifications through accredited correspondence courses or open universities.
  • Candidates who earned a Master's degree with the minimum score required to appear for the SET are enrolled in B.Ed. degree final year courses are eligible to take the exam.
  • Candidates who have earned a B. Ed. degree and are enrolled in their post-graduate program's final year are also qualified to take the exam. Such candidates must provide proof that they passed their qualifying exams with the requisite score requirements within a year of their results being released; otherwise, they will be deemed ineligible.
