In assigning the direction of branch currents-
- The directions are critical.
- The directions are not critical.
- They must point into a node.
- They must point out of a node.
Answer: B. The directions are not critical.
In assigning the direction of branch currents, the directions are not critical.
Solution
While assigning the directions of branch currents, the directions are not critical. If we assign the directions either clockwise or counterclockwise the total voltages across all the elements are zero in a loop.
If the voltage drop across any element is negative means, the assigned direction of the current and the original direction of the current is opposite.
If the voltage drop across any element is positive means, the assigned direction of the current and the original direction of the current is the same.
