Before beginning exam preparation, students must first comprehend the selection process for the SBI CBO exam. With a proper understanding of the exam pattern and selection process, it would be easier for the candidates to make a proper goal to achieve the desired outcome.

The SBI CBO selection process is double-tier. Students need to first attend the online exam conducted by the State Bank of India. Further, the online exam consists of both objectives as well descriptive parts. Students need to first attempt the online objective exam. The descriptive part will start as soon as the objective exam is completed. So students need to keep this in mind beforehand.

The online exam pattern comprises 2 steps.

1. Online exam

  • Objective Multiple choice exam
  • Descriptive exam(consists of essay and letter) followed by a screening

2. Interview

SBI CBO Selection Process - Stage 1

Let's go through the first stage i.e. online objective exam pattern of the SBI CBO exam comprehensively. The online exam consists of 4 parts. These are English, Banking knowledge, General awareness/Economy, and computer aptitude. Students need to focus on each chapter separately while preparation.

NOTE

  • There is no negative mark for incorrect choices in the online objective exam.
  • There is no sectional mark.
  • There is no sections cut-off in the online exam.

SBI CBO Descriptive Exam

  • The duration of the descriptive test is 30 minutes.
  • It will include two questions: an essay and a letter.
  • The descriptive test will hold a total of 50 marks.

Based on the online exam score, a merit list will be created for each state and category. There will be no qualifying sectional marks. Candidates will be shortlisted for up to three times (approximately) the number of jobs available in each state and category. Candidates who score the minimum aggregate qualifying score, as determined by the Bank, will be screened from the top of the merit list drawn on a state-by-state and category-by-category basis.

SBI CBO Document Screening

  • The Screening Committee will review the online applications and documents of applicants who have been shortlisted based on their performance in the online examination.
  • The Bank's Screening Committee will determine if the candidates meet the required experience eligibility criteria.
  • The Committee shall compare the job profiles supplied by the candidates (as confirmed by their current/previous employers) to the job profile of the State Bank of India's Scale-I Generalist Officer.
  • The candidate's application will be promptly rejected if their job profile does not match or differs significantly from that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer at the State Bank of India. The Bank's decision would be final and binding on all candidates in this case.

SBI CBO Selection Process - Stage 2

Based on their performance on the online objective and descriptive exams, candidates will be intimated for an interview. The interview will be worth 50 marks. In the personal interview process, the candidate must achieve a minimum score set by the Bank.

SBI CBO Final Selection/ Merit List

  • Candidates must pass both the online objective test and the interview by scoring at least the Bank's minimum needed mark.
  • In order to prepare the final merit list, the marks received in the Online Written Test, both in the Objective and Descriptive Tests, will be added to the scores received in the Interview.
  • To generate the final merit list, the scores obtained in the Online Written Test and the Interview will be combined in a 75:25 ratio.
  • The final score of the candidate will be calculated out of 100.
