Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was chosen as the chairman of the drafting committee of the Indian Constitution. In the first meeting of the committee on 30th August 1947, he was chosen among the other seven members. Ambedkar was an expert on constitutional matters and studied the constitutions of more than 60 countries.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar chaired the committee successfully and was able to create an inclusive constitution which safeguarded everybody's rights. He along with the other member of the drafting committee was very influential. After several changes and debates, the Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950.
