The Highest Law Officer in India is the Attorney General. Article 76 of the Constitution of India deals with the status of the Attorney General of India under Part V. He is the Chief Legal Adviser to the Government of India and advises the Central Government on all legal matters. He is also a senior advocate representing the Central Government in the Supreme Court of India. The President appoints the Prosecutor General on the advice of the government.
