Defence Minister of India
The current Defence Minister of India is Mr Rajnath Singh. The Ministry of Defence is responsible for dealing with the functions of the government and the agencies that relate directly to national security matters. Thus, the Defence Minister is responsible for heading the Indian Armed Forces, which holds the largest budget in the federal departments of India.
In addition to serving as a high-ranking minister in the union cabinet, the Defence Minister has one of the most important positions in the Union Council of Ministers. The Minister of Defence also holds the positions of president of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, Chancellor of the National Defence University and the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology.
