Name the First Dam of India
Kallanai Dam is the oldest and first dam in India. It was made in the 2nd century AD under the rule of King Karikala Chola. Apart from being the first dam in India, it is also the fourth oldest water regulator structure in the world.
It is one of the prominent tourist attractions and is still being used today. The dam was set up above the river Kaveri, which is about 20 kilometers from Tiruchirapalli.
