The Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution was Dr. B.R. Ambedkar who is also known as the father of the Indian Constitution. The Drafting Committee for the Indian Constitution was constituted by the Constituent Assembly on 29 August 1947. The committee was formed to draft and adopt the constitution.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar was elected as the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution. At the first meeting of the committee on 30 August 1947, he was elected from among the other seven members. Ambedkar was an expert on constitutional matters and had studied the constitutions of more than 60 countries. He was therefore a constitutional expert.
- It is also important to note that there is a difference between the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution and the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly. Both are two different posts.
