The Modern periodic table was made by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869. The periodic table was initially made by Henry Moseley. However, the elements in it were disarranged. Later on, it was Mendeleev who set up all the known elements in the periodic table in 1869, which later on came to be known as Mendeleev’s periodic law. Back then, scientists did not know about the internal structure of the atom. According to the law of modern tables, “The physical and chemical properties of the elements are periodic functions of their atomic numbers”.

Inventor of the Modern Periodic Table
In 1869, Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev invented the framework of the periodic table, but he left a few gaps in elements that were later found by Henry Moseley and made improvements to all the flaws of the Mendeleev table. An atomic number is the same as the number of electrons or protons in a neutral atom. The periodic table has been classified as per its electronic configuration in four different ways:
- Noble gas elements: Group 18 elements are called noble gases. These are highly stable elements.
- Representative elements: Elements from the S block and P block fall under this category.
- Transition elements: Group 3 to Group 12 elements form a part of transition elements. The elements of this group are also called D-block elements.
- Inner transition elements: This is the bottom of the periodic table where lanthanides and actinides are present.
