Both Gond and Bhil are the largest tribes in India. Apart from them, the other largest tribes in India are the Minas, Santhals, Oraons, Bodos, and Mundas. According to the 2011 census, the tribal population accounts for approximately 8.6 percent of India’s total population. Tribes are extremely old communities that are among the oldest inhabitants of the subcontinent.

The total number of tribal communities recognized in India is sixty-two. Odisha is the state with the highest tribal population. In contrast, the states like Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Puducherry have no tribal population.

Gond and Bhil, are both considered the largest tribes in India. They are said to be two major tribal communities of Central India. The Gond and Bhil Tribal art is also quite famous.
