Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati was a social reformer of India who was the first to obtain the titles of Pandita as a Sanskrit scholar and Sarasvati.
- She was one of eleven women who attended the 1889 Congress session. She founded the Mukti Mission in the village of Kedgaon, 40 miles east of Pune City, in the late 1890s.
- Later, the mission adopted the Pandita Ramabai Mukti moniker.
- Pandita Ramabai was a feminist who fought against the oppression of women in Hindu society. She witnessed the sexism against women and published a book that details the suffering that Hindu women from higher castes go through.
