When a clock’s hour hand moves from 4 to 7, 7 to 10, and 6 to 3, it completes a quarter of a revolution. When it moves from 3 to 9, it completes half a revolution. Fraction is a word that arises from Latin. In Latin, Fractus refers to broken. In the olden days, a fraction was represented using words. It was later introduced in numerical form. The fraction is termed as a section or portion of any quantity. It is indicated by using the ‘/’ symbol, i.e., a/b.
The fractions have two parts, namely the numerator and the denominator.
- Numerator: The upper part in the fraction which represents the sections of the fraction
- Denominator: The lower part shows the total parts by which the fraction is divided.
