UPSC Exam Centre 2023 – IAS Exam Centres for Prelims, Mains and Interview

The UPSC Exam Centre list is released by the Union Public Service Commission for Prelims and Mains examination. UPSC Mains centers are mostly in the state capitals and some major cities. The UPSC exam centre will be mentioned in the official admit card. Candidates must report to their allotted exam center for the IAS exam as per the prescribed time on the admit card.
The UPSC Exam Centres are not allotted in all the districts, so candidates sometimes need to travel to the nearest district. It is highly recommended to candidates to check the UPSC exam centers and pick out the opportune centers. The candidates must note the point that it is not mandatory that the exam centers allotted to them will be among the choices filled by them, it rules on a first-come-first-allot basis.

UPSC Exam Centre
Aspirants must be knowledgeable that there will be the highest number of applicants allowed to each UPSC exam centre except Dispur, Chennai, Nagpur, and Kolkata. Allocation of centres will be in accordance with the first-apply-first-allot system. A UPSC exam centre will be frozen or blocked once the maximum number of allocation of candidates is reached.
Those who don’t get to their desired Centre can apply for another near UPSC exam centre from the list. That’s why it is suggested to the candidates to apply for the centre as soon as possible to get the opportune center. A change of the exam centre for the UPSC exam is not allowed.
UPSC Prelims Exam Centres List
The IAS exam is conducted in three stages- UPSC Prelims, Mains, and Interview round. The location for the interview round is fixed, but for Prelims and Mains, Commission releases a list every year. UPSC Exam Centre for Interview
The personality test is the third stage of the Civil Services exam, and those who clear the Prelims and then UPSC Mains can apply for this round. As mentioned above, the UPSC Exam Centre for the Personality test or the Interview round is fixed. The Interview will be held at the Union Public Service Commission office located at Dholpur House in Delhi.
Facts About UPSC Exam Centres
Candidates preparing for the exam must select the Centre in accordance with their convenience and preference. However, there are some facts that every candidate should remember while choosing exam centres for UPSC Prelims or Mains.
- UPSC follows the first-come-first-allot rule for the candidates.
- Candidates can be allotted to exam centres other than their choice.
- Only Nagpur, Chennai, Dispur, and Kolkata have not specified limits on the number of aspirants who can be allotted this centre and accommodated there. All other exam centres have a limit on the number of candidates.
- Candidates can’t request a change of UPSC exam centre.
- Only UPSC can change the centres at its discretion based on the needs and requirements
- Facilities will be given for differently-abled aspirants in their specified exam centres.
IAS Exam Centre: Things to Remember
UPSC Prelims exam Centres are spread across the country to ensure that the highest number of aspirants can take the exam in all parts of the country. However, the UPSC mains exam centers are limited. For Mains, there are 24 exam centres chosen. Here are some important things candidates can’t miss while reporting to the exam centres for the UPSC exam.
- Candidates must present their admit card, ID proofs, and black ballpoint pens to the centres. The candidates can select the best pen for UPSC mains to perform well in the exam.
- They must not carry any valuable things because the commission won’t guarantee their safety.
- Candidates are not allowed to bring any electronic devices like calculators and phones, mathematical or drawing instruments, Books, slide rules, stencils of maps, and study material inside the exam Centre.
- Misbehavior with the exam center staff won’t be tolerated, and such candidates can be disqualified from taking the UPSC exam.
