Oman gave the cyclone Yaas its name. The word Yaas translated in English as Jasmine has come from Persian. Last year, India was hit by two cyclones. Cyclone Yaas made landfall in India, it battered coastal areas with heavy wind and rain, causing damage to homes and delivering waves that flooded towns.
