Full Form of LBSNAA
The Full form of LBSNAA is Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. It is situated at a little above 6580 ft in height and is spread over 189 acres.
In 1958, the then Union Home Minister Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant declared in the Lok Sabha that the Indian Government would set up a National Academy of Administration. The Academy would be where all the recruits of the Civil Services would be given training. The name of LBSNAA was changed twice; first, in October 1972, it became Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration, followed by al Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in July, 1973.
LBSNAA conducts a common Foundation Course for entrants to the All India Services; Indian Foreign Service; Group ‘A’ services of the Union, and the Royal Bhutan Service, followed by professional training for the regular recruits of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and members of the Royal Bhutan Service. The Academy, from time to time, also conducts in-service and Mid-Career Training Programmes (MCTPs) for members of the IAS and Induction Training programs for officers promoted to the IAS from State Civil Services. Workshops and seminars on policy and governance-related issues are held occasionally.

Mission of LBSNAA
LBSNAA’s mission statement states, “We seek to promote good governance by providing quality training towards building a professional and responsive civil service in a caring, ethical and transparent framework.” The motto of LBSNAA is “Sheelam Param Bhushanam,” or “Character is the highest virtue”.
Training at LBSNAA
LBSNAA conducts a common Foundation Course for entrants to the All India Services; Indian Foreign Service; Group ‘A’ services of the Union, and the Royal Bhutan Service, followed by professional training for the regular recruits of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and members of the Royal Bhutan Service.
Foundation Course at LBSNAA
The foundation course at LBSNAA is compulsory for all recruits of the All India Services; Indian Foreign Service, Group ‘A’ services of the Union and the Royal Bhutan Service. The foundation course usually starts in August and continues till December. Post this 6 months training program, and the recruits proceed to their respective training academies. Like, the IPS recruits join the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), the IFS recruits proceed to Sushma Swaraj Foreign Services Institute, the IRS recruits to the National Academy of Direct Taxes or to the National Academy of Customs Indirect Taxes and Narcotics and so on.
The IAS recruits stay back at LBSNAA for their Phase- 1 & 2 training, Bharat Darshan, and the District Attachment training. Post this, the IAS recruits are posted as Assistant Secretary under different Ministries in New Delhi, and after the completion, they are confirmed for the Indian Administrative Services under the hand and seal of the President of India.

लाल बहादुर शास्त्री राष्ट्रीय प्रशासन अकादमी, मसूरी भारत में सिविल सेवाओं के लिए एक शीर्षस्थ प्रशिक्षण संस्थान है। इसकी अध्यक्षता निदेशक द्वारा (भारत सरकार के सचिव स्तर के अधिकारी) द्वारा की जाती है और यह कार्मिक और प्रशिक्षण विभाग, भारत सरकार का एक संबद्ध कार्यालय है। यह अकादमी अखिल भारतीय सेवाओं, भारतीय विदेश सेवा, संघ की समूह “क” सेवाओं तथा रायल भूटान सेवा के प्रवेशकों के लिए सामान्य आधारिक पाठ्यक्रम का आयोजन करती है तथा भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के नियमित भर्तियों तथा रायल भूटान सेवा के सदस्यों के लिए व्यावसायिक प्रशिक्षण देती है।

LBSNAA is the dream destination for those preparing for the UPSC Exam. To qualify for the IAS, one must dedicate one full year to the UPSC Preparation. Follow the UPSC Preparation Strategy, and complete the UPSC Syllabus, UPSC Prelims Syllabus, and UPSC Mains Syllabus in an integrated manner.
If one thoroughly goes through the UPSC Books, and NCERT Books for UPSC, and prepares notes simultaneously with sheer dedication and determination, it would be pretty easy for the candidate to qualify for the UPSC Prelims in one go.
