Copper cannot displace Zinc from its salt solution because it is less reactive than Zinc. As per the periodic table of chemistry, only a more reactive metal can displace a less reactive metal from its salt when it exists in an aqueous solution. When there exists a solution of Copper and Zinc, Copper is less reactive than zinc. Therefore, it cannot displace zinc from its salt solution.

Reactivity of Copper and Zinc
As per the Electrochemical series also known as the reactivity series, zinc is more reactive than copper. As per this reactivity, a less reactive metal cannot replace a more reactive metal. Copper is placed below Zinc in this Reactivity series which means it can be displaced by Zinc easily but not vice-versa. Thus in the mixture, zinc can displace copper from its salt solution, but copper cannot displace zinc from its salt solution.
- The displacement reaction only takes place if the metal present in the compound has less reactivity than the incoming metal.
- The displacement reaction of zinc from the salt solution does not happen with copper because zinc lies at a higher level on the reactivity chart than copper.
