The process by which plants convert carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight into oxygen and sugar-based energy is known as photosynthesis. Factors Affecting Photosynthesis

The word photosynthesis originated from the Greek word for light synthesis. This suggests a synthesis, or light-driven chemical reaction. This process is used by some bacteria and prokaryotes as well, so it is not just for green plants. 

The process of synthesis occurs in the chloroplast, a crucial organelle found in green plants and algae, where the pigment chlorophyll is present. In their leaves, stems, flowers, sepals, and even plastids, chlorophyll is present. The other factors that affect photosynthesis include

  • the rate of absorption of carbon dioxide
  • the rate of production of carbohydrates
