Trained Graduate Teachers is the full form of TGT. A TGT teacher's educational qualification differs from that of a PRT teacher in general, TGT instructors' educational qualifications are higher than PRT teachers. TGT teachers must have a B.Ed degree as well as two years of professional experience. B.Ed is a two-year full-time course that provides applicants with education in education as well as training.

TGT refers to Trained Graduate Teachers, while PRT is for Primary Teachers. PRT TGT PGT Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates aspiring for teaching jobs in various school levels like TGT, PGT, and PRT need to meet the following eligibility criteria to appear for the exam. Eligibility criteria might be different for different issuing authorities. Below is a list of general eligibility criteria to give candidates an idea of their eligibility requirements for teaching positions. Below is the detailed eligibility criteria released by KVS for PGT, TGT, and PRT teaching jobs:

PGT: Hindi, English, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology, History, Geography, Economics, and Commerce

  1.  Two Years’ Integrated Post Graduate M.Sc. The course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject.
  2.  B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University.
  3. Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English Media.

PGT Computer Science

  1.  At least 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following: B.E or B.Tech (Computer Science! IT) from a recognized University or equivalent Degree or Diploma from an institution/ university recognized by the Govt. of India.
  2. Proficiency in teaching Hindi and English Medium.

TGT– English, Hindi, Social Studies, Science, Sanskrit, and Math

  1. Four years integrated degree course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  2. B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University.
  3. Pass the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper 2, conducted by CBSE by the Guidelines framed by the NCTE for the purpose.
  4. Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English mediums.

TGT (Physical and Health Education)

Bachelor Degree in Physical Education or equivalent

TGT (Art Education)

  1. Five years’ recognized Diploma in Drawing and Painting/ Sculpture! Graphic Art or Equivalent recognized Degree.

TGT (Work Experience)

Electrical Gadgets and Electronics:

  1. Three years Diploma after Higher Secondary in Electrical. Electronics Engineering from an institution recognized by State Govt./ Govt. of India.

PRT (All subjects)

  1.  Senior Secondary (or it is equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.).
  2. Qualified in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test.

PRT - Music

Ans. The key distinction between the two is their selection procedure and eligibility criteria: a TGT candidate must have finished a bachelor's degree, whereas a PGT candidate must have a postgraduate degree in any desirable discipline with a minimum grade point average of 55 percent.

5. What is the difference between PRT and TGT?

Ans. TGT refers to Trained Graduate Teachers, while PRT is for Primary Teachers. PRT applicants will be able to teach students in the Pre-Primary and Primary classes, whereas TGT candidates will be allowed to teach students in the Upper Primary classes.
