KVS TGT stands for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Trained Graduate Teacher. Let’s break down the full form to understand it better:
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, commonly known as KVS, is a renowned organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Established in 1963, KVS aims to provide quality education to the children of government employees who are often transferred across the country. It runs a vast network of schools called Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools) spread all over India and a few abroad.
TGT stands for Trained Graduate Teacher stands is a teaching professional who imparts education to students from classes VI to X (usually age group 11 to 16 years) in various subjects. TGTs are an integral part of the teaching faculty in Kendriya Vidyalayas and play a crucial role in nurturing the academic growth of students.

TGT Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the KVS TGT position, candidates must meet certain education qualification criteria. Generally, the following qualifications are required:
- A Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university.
- A B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree from a recognized institution.

KVS Eligibility criteria should be fulfilled to apply for the KVS TGT exam. Candidates can check the education qualification to be possessed by the candidates before applying for the KVS TGT posts, along with elective subjects that the candidate must have studied in all three years.

KVS TGT SST Education Qualification
- The candidate should have studied any two subjects out of the following:
(i) History with at least 50% marks in aggregate and one subject out of Geography/Economics/Political Science with at least 50% marks in aggregate and also at least 50% marks in graduation, OR
(ii) Geography with 50% marks with History/Economics/Political Science with at least 50% marks in aggregate and also at least 50% marks in graduation.
- Geography/History should have been studied in all the years of graduation with at least 50% marks.
- In the case of an Honours Degree in History, the candidate should have studied Geography/Economics/Political Science in the first and/or the second year of graduation with at least 50% marks in History in aggregate and at least 50% marks in other subject indicated above at graduation level and also at least 50% marks in aggregate at graduation level.
- Similarly, in the case of an Honours degree in Geography, the candidate should have studied History/Economics/Political Science in the first and/or the second year of graduation with at least 50% marks in Geography in aggregate and at least 50% marks in other subject indicated above at graduation level and also at least 50% marks in aggregate at graduation level.
KVS TGT Mathematics Education Qualification
- The candidate should have studied Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in all the years of graduation with at least 50% marks in each subject.
- In the case of an Honours Degree in Maths, the candidate should have studied Maths in all the years of graduation with at least 50% marks in aggregate and any of the two subjects indicated in point No. 1 above with at least 50% marks in each subject at graduation, level and also at least 50% marks in graduation.
- BA (Hons.) in Maths and B.Sc (Hons) in any subject other than Maths are not eligible for the post of TGT (Maths).
KVS TGT Science Education Qualification
- The candidate should have studied Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in all the years of graduation with at least 50% marks in each subject.
- The candidates with Honours Degree in Botany/Zoology/Chemistry with at least 50% marks in B.Sc should have studied other two subjects with at least 50% marks in each of them at graduation level.
KVS TGT English/Hindi /Sanskrit Education Qualification
- The candidate should have studied English/Hindi/Sanskrit in all the years of graduation with at least 50% marks in English/Hindi/Sanskrit for the posts of TGT (English/Hindi/Sanskrit) respectively and also at least 50% marks in graduation
KVS TGT Salary
Salary of KVS TGT teachers is determined by the 7th Central Pay Commission. Based on the latest available information up to September 2021, the pay scale for TGT teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas ranged from Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month, depending on the location and other factors.
