TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility forms the basic criteria needed to apply for the Group 1 exam. Candidates who are interested to apply for the exam & wish to join the civil services, need to fulfill the age limit and educational qualification for it. Only those candidates are allowed to apply for this exam who have a Graduation degree and have reached the age of 21 years.

As per the TNPSC Group 1 eligibility, candidates in their final years may apply for the exam but they must upload all their original documents while filling out the Mains examination form. In addition to this, a candidate is also required to know how to read and write the Tamil language.

TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility 2023

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) mentions the TNPSC Group 1 eligibility criteria for the Combined Civil Services Examination-I (Group-I Services) in its notification annually. For any candidate to apply for the TNPSC Group 1 exam, he/she needs to fulfill the following eligibility criteria. You must note that in addition to fulfilling the given criteria, a candidate also needs to have a knowledge of the Tamil Language. The important parameters on the basis of which the TNPSC Group 1 eligibility is judged are as follows:

TNPSC Group 1 Age Limit

Aspirants need to keep in mind that only having the required educational degree won't suffice for eligibility. All candidates need to fall within the prescribed TNPSC Group 1 age limit to be eligible for recruitment. The maximum age limit shall be calculated as of the date mentioned in the official notification by the Commission.

TNPSC Group 1 Age Relaxation

As per the TNPSC Group 1 eligibility, an age limit relaxation will also be applicable to those candidates who belong to the reserved category of candidates.TNPSC also provides age relaxation to candidates who have a domicile of Tamil Nadu. TNPSC Group 1 Qualification

The required TNPSC Group 1 qualification for candidates willing to apply to the Group 1 exam is Graduation from a recognized university. However, other things being equal, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission also mentions a particular set of qualifications that are preferred among the candidates during the final selection. TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility- Physical Qualification

TNPSC Group 1 physical qualification is meant for the candidates who apply for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I). All the candidates who wish to apply for this post need to necessarily qualify as per the fitness parameters.

For Men: Not less than 165 cm in height and not less than 86 cm around the chest on full inspiration and must have a chest expansion of not less than 5 cm on full inspiration.

TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility - Knowledge of Tamil

All the candidates applying for the TNPSC Group 1 exam should also be aware that they are required to have adequate knowledge of the Tamil language. He/She should be able to read and write the Tamil language. The TNPSC Group 1 Mains exam pattern consists of Paper 1 as a Tamil language test paper.

  • Yes, final-year candidates can also apply for TNPSC Group 1 exam. As per the TNPSC Group 1 notification, the students should be in possession of all the certificates while filling up the application forms for the Mains exam.

  • Candidates who are applying for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in TNPSC Group 1 should fulfill the physical requirement concerning height. The male candidates must be not less than 165 cm in Height and not less than 86 cm around the chest on full inspiration and must have a chest expansion of not less than 5 cm on full inspiration. On the other hand, the female candidates should not be not less than 155 cm in Height.
