Punjab Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2021

Punjab Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2021: Punjab Police Sub Inspector (SI) eligibility criteria is specified by the Punjab Police in its notification. Candidates who are interested in applying for the post of Punjab Police SI 2021 exam, must check out the eligibility criteria that is given here. The basic eligibility for Punjab Police Sub Inspector includes fulfilment of educational qualifications, age limit, as well as physical standards. Fulfilling the educational qualification and age limit for Punjab Police SI is not sufficient enough to get appointed to the service. It is also important to qualify for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Screening Test (PST), which are qualifying in nature.

Punjab Police SI Educational Qualification

The educational qualification necessary to pass Punjab Police sub-inspector eligibility is specified here.

Graduation or equivalent in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized university is essential. 

Sub Inspector in Armed Police Cadre

Sub Inspector in Investigation Cadre

Sub Inspector in Intelligence Cadre

Any one of the following educational qualifications must be fulfilled by the candidates.

a) Graduation from a recognized University with an ‘0’ Level Certificate of Information Technology (IT) from NIELIT (formerly known as DOEACC)

OR

b) Graduation from a recognized University or Institution with Computer Science (CS), or Computer Applications: or Information Technology (IT) as one of the elective subjects during the graduation

OR

c) An engineering degree in either IT/CS/CSE/Computer Networking/Data Science/Software engineering/BCA or PG Diploma in Computer Applications from a recognized University or Institution.

Punjab Police SI Age Limit

The age limit to apply for Punjab Police SI is as specified below:

  • Minimum age: 18 years as on 1 January 2021 
  • Maximum age: 28 years as on 1 January 2021

Age Relaxation for Punjab Police SI

There is a relaxation in age limit for the following category of candidates for Punjab Police SI.

Category

Age relaxation (as on  1 January, 2021)

Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, who are residents of Punjab

5 (five) years, i.e. up to 33 years

Ex-servicemen, who are residents of Punjab

Such candidates are allowed to deduct the period of his/her service in the Armed Forces of the Union from his actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for direct appointment to such a vacancy in the Service Rules concerned by more than three (3) years, then he/she satisfies the age limit.

Regular employees of Punjab govt. Or other state/central govt. 

5 (five) years, i.e. up to 33 years

Essential Qualification for Punjab Police SI

The other essential qualification for Punjab Police SI is as follows:

Candidates must have e passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language as specified by the Punjab Govt. from time to time.

Exception for Defence Personnel Ward for Punjabi language

A candidate who is a ward of defence personnel and a resident of Punjab will have to pass an examination of Punjabi language equivalent to Matriculation Standard or he shall have to qualify a test conducted by the Language Wing of the Department of Education of the Punjab Government within a period of two years from the date of his/her appointment. 

Punjab Police SI PST & PMT

The Punjab Police SI physical test includes the physical standard test (PST) and physical measurement test (PMT). Both PST and PMT for Punjab Police Sub Inspector are qualifying in nature. The PST and PMT will be conducted after the written examination. However, it is of utmost importance that you know the Punjab Police SI PST and PMT beforehand. Punjab Police sub-inspector eligibility is also decided by these tests.

Punjab SI Exam Eligibility Criteria FAQs

  • Punjab Police SI eligibility criteria includes fulfilment of the following:

    • Educational qualifications
    • Age limit
    • Punjabi qualification
    • Physical standard, i.e. PST and PMT
  • Candidates must be a graduate or equivalent in any discipline to apply for the Punjab Police SI exam.

  • You must be between the age of 18 years to 28 years as on 1 January, 2021 to apply for the Punjab Police SI exam 2021.

  • All the candidates applying for the Punjab Police SI must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects, or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language as specified by the Punjab Govt. from time to time for Punjab Police SI. 

  • The height requirement for Punjab Police SI is given below for the male and female candidates. 

    • Male candidates should be at least 5 feet 7 inches for the District and Armed Police cadre while 5 feet 5 inches for Investigation and Intelligence cadre. 
    • Female candidates should be at least 5 feet 2 inches for the District and Armed Police cadre while 5 feet 1 inches for Investigation and Intelligence cadre.
  • No, age relaxation in Punjab Police SI is applicable only for the candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Ex-servicement, who are residents of Punjab.
