Assistant professors work at universities where they teach courses and conduct research. They act as support staff for tenured professors, supervise PhD students, and also conduct experiments, examinations and studies. Adjunct professors can also participate in other university activities, depending on the contract.

• Complete Knowledge of the subject:  

As an assistant professor, you need to have full command over your specific subject. Make sure you know the latest UGC NET Syllabus of your subject, a common Master's syllabus prescribed currently. Be prepared for the smallest details about the subject that could be asked. Do not leave any topic, prepare every topic because sometimes in the interview even the easiest of the questions seem difficult because of the pressure. You must have in-depth knowledge and you should be able to prove that, so be very clear in your answers.  

• About your research (if any):

If a PhD degree, then you must be prepared for questions about your research like its relevancy, significance etc. If you are a PhD holder, you will be questioned about the area of research or what made you choose that particular subject for your research.  You must be clear about the major points from your research work. 

• Teaching Aptitude: 

Good knowledge of teaching aptitude will help you a great deal in this interview. Often the interview panel gives a mock scenario for you and you need to answer that with the perspective of an assistant professor. It will show your problem-solving attitude as an assistant professor so you need to be firm and very confident while answering these. Also various questions can be asked from this particular topic. 

• About any extra curriculum:

If you have submitted any other relevant documents like your research papers in some certified journal, some major academic seminar that you were a part of etc. then be prepared for questions asked around them. Questions like what was the major points of the seminar that you presented or what was the main highlight of your research paper can be asked. 

• Current Academic Scenarios:

Be updated with the latest academic affairs. Any change in any major academic policy, any new regulation, any modification around your particular post will come in handy. Make sure you are aware of the major current affairs as well. Questions can be asked from higher education current affairs to environmental etc. 

• Knowledge of the Institution/Organisation: 

It is very important that you know all about the institution that you are going to be a part of. Be sure that have done enough research about the organisation, in this case, OPSC.

• Greet the panel with a warm smile.
• Keep your posture straight during the interview and keep your hands on your lap and do not cross your legs.
• Keep eye contact and nod it shows that you are interested in the discussion and listening carefully. 
• Do not use fillers too much in your sentences like uh, uh, you know as it portrays the candidate as a little confused. 
• Be very clear about your job profile and the role and responsibilities. 
• Breathe, don't be nervous.
