NIACL Assistant Prelims Exam 2018: Major Highlights & Overall Exam-analysis

1. Level of the NIACL Assistant Prelims 2018:

  • Throughout all the shifts conducted today, the level of the exam remained easy to moderate.
  • The questions asked in each section were of easy level, hence the candidates managed to attempt a good number of questions.
  • As compared to exam conducted last year, the exam was a bit easier.
  • Sequence of the section was English Language, Reasoning ability and Numerical Ability.

2. Individual sections level comparison :

  • English Language Section remained easiest of all three section in all the shifts.
  • Reasoning Ability section helped the candidates in increasing their attempts. This section was of easy level. No tricky or much time-consuming questions were asked.
  • The level of Numerical ability section was on a slightly higher side as compared to the other two sections. This section was of moderate level due to some time-consuming questions.

3. Sectional Highlights

English Language Section Review : 

  • No new pattern questions were asked in this section. All the questions were easily doable.
  • Reading comprehension, fill in the blanks, para jumble, old pattern error spotting; these topics were asked in all the shifts.
  • Cloze test was asked in two shifts.
  • 'Identify wrongly spelled words', this topic was asked in three slots of exam conducted today.
  • Reading comprehension, as well as cloze test question, were story based. 

Numerical Ability Section Review :

  • Quadratic equation and quantity based questions were asked in NIACL Assistant exam today.
  • A set of 5 questions from DI (Tabular DI, Bar Graph DI, Line Graph DI) , simplification/approximation, arithmetic word problems were asked in each of the shifts.
  • Number series questions (missing, wrong pattern) was asked in 3 shifts.
  • Quadratic equation and Quantity based questions were asked in 2 shifts.

Reasoning Ability Section Review

  • Puzzles and seating arrangement questions did not dominate the reasoning section in NIACL Assistant Prelims today.
  • Most of the topics from the Reasoning ability syllabus were asked in this section.
  • Puzzles and seating arrangement, syllogism, inequality, series based questions were asked in all the slots.
  • Coding-decoding was asked in three slots.
  • Blood relation and direction sense questions were asked in 2 slots.

4. Good Attempts 

Considering the level of questions in exam, attempting 75+ questions with utmost accuracy in today's exam is good to go.

  • The questions were of Moderate level.

Data Interpretation

  • A Tabular DI was asked.
  • The questions were slightly calculative but not very time taking.

  • Moderate and slightly calculative arithmetic topics were asked.

  • Easy level story based RC was asked.
  • There was one vocabulary question based on passage.
  • 2 vocabulary based questions were asked. 

Fillers

  • 6 questions were asked which were based on single fillers. A sentence was given with one blank in it.
  • Students were required to choose the correct option to fill the blank appropriately.
  • Questions were very easy.

Spotting error

  • Level: Moderate
  • 5 questions of old pattern error spotting were asked in which students need to identify the part of a sentence with an error.

Parajumble

  • Level: Moderate
  • Question was slightly tricky.
  • Sentences in unarranged order were given.
  • Students were required to arrange it in a proper order to form a coherent paragraph.
