The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda has kept the GSET Selection Process 2022 similar to the ones used by the UGC NET Exam and other SET exams of other states in India. Candidates must cross the cutoff to be qualified for GSET Exam 2022. The selection procedure is determined according to the UGC, New Delhi specified. For qualified, the GSET Exam candidates must come in the top 6 % of students. Those who qualify for the GSET Exam will become eligible for Assistant Professor in Gujarat. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda acts as State Agency for the Gujarat State and conducts the Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET). As per the GSET selection procedure, candidates must appear in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates must choose the subjects that they studied in their Post-graduation.

GSET Selection Process Important Points

The selection process of GSET is very simple. The exam is conducted to define the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in the Gujarat universities. The written exam has two papers. Paper 1 is common for all the candidates, whereas Paper 2 is for specific subjects. The candidates will be certified based on their performance in both papers.   • Only 6% of the candidates will be selected for the GSET Exam. These candidates will be eligible for the Assistant Professor position in Gujarat.
  • Different categories will be allotted slots according to the reservation policy of the Government of Gujarat.
  • Candidates must appear in both the papers and secure at least 40% marks in both papers for the General category. For reserved categories (SC, ST, SEBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer), PwD (PH/VH), and Third gender), there is a relaxation of 5%.

Important Points of GSET Exam Pattern

  • Paper 1 contains 50 questions. Each question is of 2 marks. Total marks for Paper 1 are 100.
  • Paper 2 contains 100 questions. Each question is of 2 marks. Total marks for Paper 2 are 200.
  • The total marks for both papers are 300.
  • There is no negative marking.
  • Candidates must mark the answers to the Paper-I and Paper-II questions on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) paper provided with the test paper.

GSET Minimum Qualifying Marks & Merit List

For qualifying for the GSET Exam, candidates must score minimum marks in both Papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Minimum marks criteria apply separately for the General category and reserved category. Candidates must score more than the cutoff for qualifying for GSET Exam. After the GSET Exam is conducted, the successful candidates' merit list is released. GSET Merit List

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda announces the GSET Merit List after completion of the exam cycle. The merit list contains the list of candidates who successfully qualifies for the GSET exam and will be eligible for Assistant Professor in the state of Gujarat.

  • Only 6 % of the candidates qualify for the GSET exam in each subject. The selection of candidates for the 6% slot shall be based on the reservation rules and policies.
