The GSET Eligibility 2023 is mandatory to fulfil by the candidate to appear in Gujarat State Eligibility Test. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara (MSUB) conducts this state-level entrance exam annually to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in Colleges & Universities in the state of Gujarat. A candidate's eligibility for the exam will be void if they do not meet the GSET Eligibility 2023 requirements. In general, exam eligibility remains unchanged, but the exam conducting body may make changes if necessary.

GSET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates must fulfil all GSET Eligibility 2023 requirements in order to take the upcoming exam. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will publish the GSET Eligibility Criteria along with the notification on its official website. It is defined as the basic minimum requirements that every candidate must meet before taking the GSET Exam. Only those who meet all requirements will be considered to register for the exam.

GSET Exam Age Limit

It is important for candidates to meet the GSET Age Limit 2023 requirements because it determines whether they will be allowed to take the exam. Before completing the application form, candidates must ensure they meet all of the GSET Eligibility 2023 requirements. The age limit criteria for the Assistant Professor position are detailed below.

  • There is no age limit for taking the Gujarat State Eligibility Test. Candidates of any age who meet the minimum educational requirements can appear for the GSET Exam. They will be contacted for document verification after being shortlisted.

GSET Qualification

Similar to the age limit, the authority has established a minimum educational qualification for candidates interested in the exam. A candidate must meet the GSET Qualification requirements to be considered for the position. The GSET qualifications are one of the most important eligibility requirements.   • Only those candidates eligible to appear in the GSET who have completed/are studying in the final year or semester of a UGC specified Master's degree in a subject of GSET.
  • The Reservation policy for the GSET examination is as per the Gujarat Government. Central Government OBC certificate is not acceptable from the candidates belonging to SEBC of Gujarat State. The candidates of other States, i.e. other than Gujarat State, belonging to reserved category shall be treated as General category candidates.
  • The candidates having Post Graduate Diploma certificate awarded by an Indian University/Institute or a Foreign degree/diploma certificate awarded by the Foreign University/Institute should, in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence *of their diploma degree/certificate with Master's degree of recognized Indian Universities from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Such candidates who qualify for SET will be required to submit an equivalence certificate from AIU immediately after the result of the SET examination.
  • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC.
  • On the other hand, candidates belonging to SC/ST/visually handicapped/physically handicapped category or transgender category must secure at least 50% marks in their Master's degree.
  • Candidates studying for a master's degree or equivalent courses, candidates who have taken the master's qualification exam (last year) but whose results are still awaited, or candidates whose qualification exams are delayed can also apply for the GSET exam.

GSET Reservation Policy

According to GSET Eligibility 2023, applicants will apply for reservation policy for the exam. To appear in this state-level entrance exam, candidates must be eligible for it, and some applicants may get an exemption if they fall into any point mentioned below.

  • A relaxation of 5 % is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and PWD categories.
  • Ph.D. degree holders who completed the Master's exam by September 19, 1991, must be eligible to get 5% of the total score of appearing on the GSET exam.

GSET Nationality

As per GSET Eligibility 2023, Candidates must fulfil the nationality criteria. If a candidate doesn’t fit into the criteria, he/she will not be allowed to apply for the GSET exam. The nationality requirements for every candidate are given below.

  • For the GSET exam, the candidate must be an Indian citizen. It is prohibited for candidates of different nationalities to register for the exam.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts to be made for the GSET Exam 2023. Candidates can apply multiple times if eligible.

Important Instruction for GSET Eligibility 2023

Apart from the GSET Eligibility 2023, candidates must keep in mind a few important points when filling out the GSET Application Form. These points are related to required qualifications and exemptions.

  • Candidates from other states besides Gujarat, who are in the reserved category, will be identified as General category candidates.
  • Candidates are required to send neither any certificates/documents supporting their eligibility nor print out their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to the Gujarat State Eligibility Test office.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category must have a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority of Gujarat. 
  • If GSET / UGC detects any disqualification at any stage, your application will be cancelled, your E-certificate will be revoked, and you will be liable for legal action.
  • The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in the GSET Examination.
  • The candidates must have a Master's Degree recognized by U.G.C. in a subject of GSET. Candidates are required to appear for GSET in the subject of their Post Graduation only. In case the subject of a candidate is not included in the list of GSET subjects, the candidate may appear in UGC NET/UGC - CSIR NET, which is held twice a year.
  • Candidates are neither required to send any certificate/documents supporting their eligibility nor print out their Application Form to the Gujarat State Eligibility Test office, Vadodara. However, in their own interest, the candidates must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the GSET Examination. If GSET / UGC detects any ineligibility at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled, the GSET certificate will be withdrawn, and they shall be liable for legal action.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/SEBC (Cast Certificate along with latest Non-Creamy Layer certificate)/General-EWS category must possess a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority of Gujarat state and certificates related to PwO (PHIVH). Therefore, in their own interest, the candidates must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the GSET Examination. If GSET/UGC detects any ineligibility at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled, the GSET certificate will be withdrawn, and they shall be liable for legal action.
