GATE Electrical (EE) Counselling 2023: Check Eligibility, Schedule for CCMT and COAP Counselling

GATE EE (Electrical) Counselling 2023 begins after the GATE result and scorecard declaration. The GATE Counseling is done by two separate bodies for admission into the institute. GATE Electrical Counselling is done through the following two stages:

• COAP: Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) counselling process is done for admission into M.Tech courses that are offered by the IITs and IISC Bangalore.
• CCMT: Centralised Counselling for MTech (CCMT) counselling is offered for the M.Tech courses that are offered by the NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and CFTIs.

The State and Private Universities conduct their own counselling based on the GATE 2023 Scores. Further, GATE Counselling is done in 5 rounds or more (if required)  as per the availability of seats.

CCMT Counselling Special Rounds

COAP is the Common Offer Acceptance Portal that is designed for admission of candidates in the participating IITs and IISC Bangalore for M. Tech course. 

• The GATE COAP Counseling is a portal that where all the participating IITs upload the admission offer for the M.Tech course based on the GATE score of the candidates. 
• The GATE Score of any of the last three years is taken into consideration for the purpose of registration to the COAP portal. 
• On the basis of the GATE score of the candidates and the availability of seats, COAP offers admission. 

The full form of CCMT is Centralized Counselling for M. Tech, M. Arch, M. Planning. CCMT is a portal that is designed for admission into the M. Tech, M. Arch, M. Planning courses in NITs, IIEST Shibpur, and some IIITs and GFTIs. 

• The selection of candidates is done on the basis of valid GATE Scores of any of the last three years. 
• The seat allotment is done on the basis of the candidate’s GATE Scores, selection of courses and institutes & availability of seats. 

The admission into IISC Bangalore for M. Tech Programme is done through GATE COAP website. IISC Bangalore has laid down certain guidelines for admission into the institute that are given below

• Candidates should possess at least a 2nd class in the required degree for which they are willing to apply i.e. M. Tech/Ph. D.
• The selection will be done through an interview and GATE Scores. 
• GATE Score will have 70% weightage while the interview will carry 30% weightage.

The GATE Electrical Counselling involves the following stages for the purpose of selection:

• Step 1: Online Registration
• Step 2: Online Filling and Locking of Choices
• Step 3: Verification of Documents
• Step 4: Seat Allotment
• Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted Institute

The process of counselling for GATE is done through the following. 

• Accept and Freeze: While applying for GATE counselling this, the term means that you have accepted the allotted seat and do not want up-gradation.
• Retain and Wait: Selection of this option means that you have accepted the given seat but wants up-gradation. 
• Reject and Wait: It means that a candidate does not want to accept any of the offers available. 

While taking admission through GATE Score, the candidates will have to produce the following documents in original and attested copies of the original documents.

• Provisional seat allotment letter through GATE.
• Self-Attested Copy of GATE Score Card (2020 or 2021 or 2022).
• Photo ID proof such as Aadhar  Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Passport, etc.
• Original Birth certificate issued by competent authority/Class X certificate.
• Class  10th and 12th marks sheet.
• Marks sheet of qualifying examination (all semesters).
• Degree/Provisional Certificate.
• Category certificate (if applicable).
• Passport size coloured photograph.
• Seat acceptance fee proof.
• Printout of the Registration form & locked choices.
• Migration Certificate.
• Transfer Certificate.
• Pass certificate of the last attended university/college.
