  • Meaning:
    a. to prevent something from happening by taking action first
    b. to acquire or appropriate before someone else; take for oneself; arrogate
    c. to take the place of because of priorities, reconsideration, rescheduling, etc.; supplant

  • Meaning: 
    a. to prevent the presence, existence, or occurrence of; make impossible:

  • Synonyms: prevent, prohibit, forbid

6.  Word: Legit (संग्राहक)

  • Pronunciation: luh-jit/ लेजिट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: 
    a. (of a singing voice) trained in a classical or operatic tradition
    b. having such a singing voice.
    c. being a singer with such a voice.
  • Synonyms: legitimate, lawful, legal
  • Antonyms: sinful, invalid, abnormal
  • Usage in a sentence: I'm not getting involved in this fundraising scheme if it isn't legit.

7.  Word: Waffle (अस्पष्ट बात )

  • Pronunciation: wof-uhl/वाफल
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: 
    a. to talk or write a lot without giving any useful information or any clear answers
  • Synonyms: hesitate, vacillate, waver
  • Antonyms: aphorism, decide, come to a conclusion
  • Usage in a sentence: If you don't know the answer, it's no good just waffling (on) for pages and pages. 

8.  Word: Antiquity (पुराना समय )

  • Meaning: 
    a. the quality of being ancient; ancientness:

    c. the period of history before the Middle Ages
    d. the peoples, nations, tribes, or cultures of ancient times
  • Synonyms: antique, relic, history
  • Antonyms: modernity, novelty, newness
  • Usage in a sentence: Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes since antiquity.

9.  Word: Insidious (घातक )

  • Pronunciation: in-sid-ee-uhs/इन्सिडीअस
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. intended to entrap or beguile:
    b. stealthily treacherous or deceitful:
    c. operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with grave effect:
  • Synonyms: cunning, crafty, subtle
  • Antonyms: harmless, honest, guileless
  • Usage in a sentence: High blood pressure is an insidious condition which has few symptoms.

10.  Word: Bizarre (अजीब)

    a. markedly unusual in appearance, style, or general character and often involving incongruous or unexpected elements; outrageously or whimsically strange
