 2. Word: Parley (संधि वार्ता करना)

  • Pronunciation: pahr-lee/पार्ली
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. a discussion or conference (Noun)
    b. an informal conference between enemies under a truce, especially to discuss terms, conditions of surrender, etc. (Noun)
    c. to hold an informal conference with an enemy under a truce, as between active hostilities (Verb)
    d. to speak, talk, or confer (Verb)
  • Synonyms: talk, discussion, negotiate, conference
  • Antonyms: ignored, deaf
  • Usage in a sentence: After some serious parleying, both sides agreed to settle their differences.

3. Word: Debilitating (दुर्बल)

  • Pronunciation: de·​bil·​i·​tat·​ing/डबिलटैटिंग
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. tending to weaken or enfeeble
  • Synonyms: exhausting, weakening, enfeebling
  • Antonyms: restorative, fresh, inviogorating
  • Usage in a sentence: Many people faced debilitating side effects after getting a dose of the vaccine.

4. Word: Lathes (चक्रयन्त्र)

  • Pronunciation: leyth/लेद
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. a machine for use in working wood, metal, etc., that holds the material and rotates it about a horizontal axis against a tool that shapes it. (Noun)
    b. to cut, shape, or otherwise treat on a lathe. (Verb)
  • Synonyms: planer, shaper, machine tool
  • Antonyms: calm, confuse, crush
  • Usage in a sentence: He wrapped metal wire around cylindrical bars of soft iron by means of a lathe.

5. Word: Deftly (चालाकी से)

  • Pronunciation: deftly/डेफ्टली

  • Meaning:
    a. skillfully or cleverly
  • Synonyms: skillfully, dexterously, adroitly
  • Antonyms: clumsily, awkwardly, gracelessly
  • Usage in a sentence: She deftly answered the tough questions.

6. Word: Missive (राजनीतिक संदेश)

  • Pronunciation: mis-iv/ मिसिव
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. a written message; letter.
    b. sent or about to be sent, especially of a letter from an official source.
  • Synonyms: note, message, epistle
  • Usage in a sentence: The missive from central government was directed towards the state governments. 

7. Word: Trigger (झट प्रतिक्रिया/सक्रिय करना)

  • Pronunciation: trig-er/ट्रिगर
  • Part of speech: Noun/Verb
  • Meaning: a small device that releases a spring or catch and so sets off a mechanism, especially in order to fire a gun (Noun)
    cause (a device) to function (Verb)
  • Synonyms: activate, set off
  • Antonyms: destroy, end 
  • Usage in a sentence: Do not let your depressive emotions trigger a craving for food when you are not hungry.

8. Word: Unrest (बेचैनी)

  • Pronunciation: uhn-rest/अन्रेस्ट
  • Part of Speech:
  • Meaning:
    a. lack of rest; a restless, troubled, or uneasy state; disquiet:
    b. disturbance or turmoil; agitation
  • Synonyms: turmoil, agitation, disturbance 
  • Antonyms: peace, calm, harmony
  • Usage in a sentence: It is feared that the civil unrest we are now witnessing in this country could lead to full-scale civil war.

9. Word: Alleviate (घटाना)

  • Pronunciation: uh-lee-vee-eyt/ अलीवीएट
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: make (suffering, deficiency, or a problem) less severe.
  • Synonyms: mitigate, reduce, soothe, lessen
  • Antonyms: intensify, aggravate, worsen
  • Usage in a sentence: He put on his sunglasses, which did little to alleviate the headache sunlight gave him.

10. Word: Fortuitous (आकस्मिक)

  • Pronunciation: fawr-too-i-tuhs/फॉर्टूइटस
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning - happening by accident or chance
  • Synonyms - accidental , unpredictable , fortunate ,chance ,unplanned
  • Antonyms - intentional, planned, calculated, predictable
  • Usage in a sentence - Long ago, Neil had a fortuitous meeting with a television producer in a party, which helped him become a star.
