  • Meaning: a confident and forceful statement of fact or belief.
  • Synonyms: statement, declaration, dictum
  • Antonyms: negation, denial, uncertainty
  • Usage in a Sentence: She made an assertion that she was fully responsible for the problem.

4. Word: Notwithstanding(तथापि/हालांकि)

  • Pronunciation: not-with-stan-ding/नाट्विद्स्टैन्डिंग
  • Part of Speech: Proposition/Adverb/Conjunction
  • Meaning:  
    a. in spite of [Proposition]
    b. nevertheless; in spite of this, anyway [Adverb]
    c. although; in spite of the fact that. [Conjunction]
  • Synonyms: all the same, still, even so
  • Antonyms: besides, beneath, underneath
  • Usage in a Sentence: I don't like playing cricket, but I will play with you notwithstanding.

5. Word: Deferred (विलम्बित)

  • Pronunciation: dih-furd/डिफर्ड
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning
    a. postponed or delayed
    b. suspended or withheld for or until a certain time or event
    c. classified as temporarily exempt from induction into military service
  • Synonyms: postponed, delayed, adjourned
  • Antonyms: hurried, forwarded, hastened, prepone
  • Usage in a sentence: The decision has been deferred indefinitely.

6. Word: Monopoly (एकाधिकार)

  • Pronunciation: muh-nop-uh-lee/मनापली
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.

7. Word: Dictate (निर्धारण करना)

    a. state or order authoritatively. [Verb]
    b. an order or principle that must be obeyed. [Noun]
  • Synonyms: command, prescribe

8. Word: Thwart (व्यर्थ कर देना)

  • Meaning:

    b. oppose (a plan, attempt, or ambition) successfully.
  • Synonyms: foil, frustrate, disappoint

9. Word: Deterrent (डराकर रोकने वाला)

  • Pronunciation: dih-tur-uhnt/ डिटरन्ट
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Adjective
  • Meaning
    a. a thing that discourages or is intended to discourage someone from doing something. (Noun)
    b. able or intended to deter. (Adjective)
  • Synonyms: impediment, hindrance, obstacle, disincentive
  • Antonyms: encouragement, incentive, catalyst, assistance, motive
  • Usage in a sentence: The pain of it should be deterrent enough to never make the mistake twice.

10. Word: Subsequent (आगामी)

  • Meaning: coming after something in time; following.
  • Synonyms: following, consequent
