  • Antonyms: approachable, promising, unpredictable
  • Use in a Sentence: The quality of my colleague's work augurs well for the appraisals next month.

3. Word: Vagary (उच्छृंखलता)

  • Pronunciation: vuh-gair-ee/ वगेरी
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: an unexpected and inexplicable change in a situation or in someone's behaviour.
  • Synonyms: whim, fancy, quirk, notion, oddity
  • Usage in a Sentence: Since these rivers are fed by melting glaciers, their flow is not as dependent on the vagaries of the monsoon.

4. Word: Inevitable (अनिवार्य)

  • Pronunciation: in-ev-i-tuh-buh l/ इनेविटबल
  • Part of Speech: Adjective, Noun
  • Meaning:
    a. certain to happen; unavoidable. [Adjective]
    b. a situation that is unavoidable. [Noun]
  • Synonyms: unavoidable, necessary, ineluctable
  • Antonyms: avoidable, preventable, evitable
  • Usage in a sentence: Accidents are the inevitable result of driving too fast.

5. Word: Terrain (मैदान)

  • Pronunciation: tuh-reyn/ टरैन
  • Part of Speech: Noun
  • Meaning: a stretch of land, especially with regard to its physical features.
  • Synonyms: land, region, geography, landscape
  • Usage in a sentence: We had to drive over some rough terrain.

6. Word: Debilitate (बलहीन करना)

  • Pronunciation: dih-bil-i-teyt/ डिबिलिटेट
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. make (someone) very weak and infirm.
    b. hinder, delay, or weaken
  • Synonyms: weaken, enervate, exhaust, enfeeble, fatigue
  • Antonyms: energize, strengthen, fortify, invigorate
  • Usage in a sentence: The heart surgery debilitated the college athlete beyond his worst fears.

 7. Word: Inherent (अंतर्निहित)

  • Pronunciation: in-heer-uhnt/ इन्हेरन्ट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: existing in something as a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute.
  • Synonyms: innate, intrinsic, natural, inborn, ingrained
  • Antonyms: acquired, extrinsic, external, accidental
  • Usage in a Sentence: I'm afraid the problems you mention are inherent in the system.

8. Word: Torrential (प्रचण्ड, मूसलधार)

  • Pronunciation: taw-ren-shuh l/ टॉरेन्शल
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning
    a. (of rain) falling rapidly and in copious quantities.
    b. (of water) flowing rapidly and with force.
  • Synonyms: abundant, heavy, bucketing, gushing
  • Antonyms: controlled, light, airy, faint
  • Usage in a Sentence: The last game, in 1976, was suspended in the second half due to a torrential downpour and unruly fans.

9. Word: Disproportionate (असम)

  • Pronunciation: dis-pruh-pawr-shuh-nit /डिस्प्रपॉर्शनिट 
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. too large or too small in comparison to something else
    b. not deserving its importance or influence
  • Synonyms: inordinate, unequal, undue
  • Antonyms: equal, proportionate, commensurate, balanced
  • Usage in a sentence: There is a disproportionate distribution of wealth across the economic classes.

10. Word: Elide (छिपाना)

  • Pronunciation: i-ˈlīd/ इलाइड
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning
    a. to suppress or alter (something, such as a vowel or syllable) by elision
    b. to strike out (something, such as a written word)
    c. to leave out of consideration
  • Synonyms: cancel, cross-out, obliterate, eradicate, excise
  • Antonyms: add, amplify, supplement, 
  • Usage in a sentence: By eliding the distinction, you are being sloppy and weakening your argument.
