3. Word: Lethal (घातक)

  • Pronunciation: lee-thuhl/ लीथल

  • Meaning
    a. of, relating to, or causing death; deadly; fatal:
    b. made or carried out to cause death:
    c. causing great harm or destruction:
  • Synonyms: deadly, fatal, mortal
  • Antonyms: harmless, safe, beneficial 
  • Usage in a sentence: The disclosures were lethal to his candidacy.

4.  Word: Perturbed (उद्विग्न)

  • Pronunciation: per-turb-ed 
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: worried or troubled
  • Synonyms: disturbed, troubled, anxious 
  • Antonyms: relaxed, calm, composed
  • Usage in a sentence: He seemed quite perturbed by the news of his favourite teacher's death.

5. Word: Fraught (भरपूर)

  • Pronunciation: frawt/फ्रॉट
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. full of (unpleasant things such as problems or dangers)
  • Synonyms: abounding, abundant, distressing, disturbing
  • Antonyms: bare, barren, blank, devoid, empty, calming, comfortable
  • Usage in a sentence: Writing about science at a popular level is a task fraught with difficulty.

6. Word: Raze ( नष्ट करना)

  • Pronunciation: reyz/रेज़
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. to tear down; demolish; level to the ground
    b. to shave or scrape off
  • Synonyms: demolish, destroy, tear down
  • Antonyms: construct, raise, build
  • Usage in a sentence: The town was razed to the ground in the bombing raid - not a building was left standing.

7. Word: Apocalyptic (अंतर्भासी)

  • Pronunciation: uh-pok-uh-lip-tik/अपाकलिप्टिक
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. showing or describing the total destruction and end of the world, or extremely bad future events
  • Synonyms: revelatory, ominous, portentous
  • Antonyms: auspicious, beneficial, favourable
  • Usage in a sentence:  Due to the fear of an apocalyptic event, many people started building underground shelters and saving. 

8. Word: Lurch ( झटका)

  • Pronunciation: lurch/लर्च
  • Part of Speech: Verb, Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. make an abrupt, unsteady, uncontrolled movement or series of movements; stagger. [Verb]
    b. an abrupt uncontrolled movement, especially an unsteady tilt or roll. [Noun]
  • Synonyms: wobble, stumble
  • Antonyms: steady, stabilize
  • Usage in Sentence:  The baby suddenly lurched to the side and threw up violently.

9. WordInsipid (नीरस)

  • Pronunciation: in-sip-id/ इन्सिपिड
  • Part of Speech: Adjective
  • Meaning: not having a strong taste or character, or having no interest or energy
  • Synonyms: bland, flat, vapid, dull
  • Antonyms: tasty, interesting, delicious
  • Usage in a sentence: The project reeked of insipid ideas and lack of creativity.

10. Word: Effluent (अपगामी)

  • Pronunciation: ef-loo-uhnt/एफ्लूअन्ट 
  • Part of Speech: Adjective/Noun
  • Meaning: 
    a. flowing out or forth (Adjective)
    b. liquid waste that is sent out from factories or places where sewage is dealt with, usually flowing into rivers, lakes, or the sea (Noun)
  • Synonyms: outflow, drainage, waste
  • Antonyms: clear water, fresh or purified water
  • Usage in a sentence: Effluents from local factories are finding their way into the river.
