IIT Kanpur will notify candidates about the GATE CE eligibility criteria through the notification. Eligibility criteria are the prerequisite for filling out the application form. Candidates who are eligible for the exam can apply online, otherwise, your application will be rejected by the GATE authorities. What is GATE CE Eligibility?

GATE CE eligibility criteria are the set of eligibility conditions that candidates must follow to apply for the exam. GATE eligibility criteria for CE will be decided by the conducting body which is IIT Kanpur. There will be fixed conditions that will be notified to every candidate who aspires to attempt the GATE CE exam. The GATE eligibility criteria for CE will include factors like age limit, nationality, educational qualification, etc. The details of each parameter will be given here in detail.

Candidates who do not meet the GATE CE eligibility criteria will be disqualified and will not be eligible to appear for the exam. Candidates are advised to go through the GATE CE eligibility criteria in detail and carefully before filling out the application form. There will be three criteria which are:

  • Nationality of the candidate.
  • Age Limit of the candidate.
  • Academic Details of the candidate.

GATE CE Eligibility Educational Detail

As per the official notification, candidates performing various undergraduate and post-graduate course comes under GAE CE eligibility criteria. No set condition on the minimum percentage is required at the undergraduate level for appearing in GATE 2023. The number of attempts has no limit. Candidates can appear for the GATE Exam as many times as they want. Such as for the Candidates who have completed/will complete their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree (M.Sc) in any relevant science subject from a recognized University or institution will be eligible for GATE 2023. Candidates pursuing third-year B.Tech or UG courses are also eligible to appear for GATE 2023.

GATE CE Eligibility Nationality

Let us explore the GATE CE eligibility criteria for the nationality of the candidate. As the GATE CE exam is conducted for foreign candidates as well along with Indian candidates hence the eligibility criteria for those countries are mentioned below as well.   • Candidates from India will be eligible for the exam.
  • Candidates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) will also be eligible to appear.

GATE CE Eligibility Age Limit

As per the official notification, there is no minimum or a maximum age limit to appear for the GATE examination. Candidates who are eligible under the GATE CE eligibility criteria can give the exam at any age. As per the pattern of the GATE CE exam, to conducted only once every year but candidates of varied age groups sit for the exam because of no restrictions related to the age of the candidates. 

GATE CE Eligibility Number of Attempts

Candidates can give the exam any number of times. There is no restriction as per the official notification on the number of attempts by the candidates. Candidates can start sitting for the GATE exam from the 3rd year of the graduation course and attempt the exam any number of times over the years. It is important to know that the GATE CE exam is conducted only once per year.

Documents Required for GATE CE Eligibility

The degree certificate/provisional degree certificate/course completion certificate/membership certificate is issued by the society or institute if the candidate has completed any one of the degrees mentioned above.

  • Candidates have to upload their Provisional Certificate Letter (as issued by the Head of the Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department) or a copy of the marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc If the candidate is expected to complete one of the qualifying norms in 2022 or later
  •  All the documents have to be uploaded only while filling out the online application. No documents have to be sent by post.
  • Upload a copy of any of the mark sheets of the final year issued from the institute where he/she was studying if the candidates with backlogs (failed subjects) were in any of the subjects in their qualifying examination.

GATE CE Eligibility FAQs

  • Yes, final-year students are eligible for GATE EC. As per the latest information released on the brochure, candidates in the 3rd year are eligible to sit in the exam.

  • There is no maximum age limit for the GATE CE exam mentioned in the information brochure. Candidates of any age group can fill out the application form for the GATE exam. 

  • Yes, candidates from various countries are eligible to sit for the exam. The aspirants from the below-mentioned countries are eligible to sit in the exam:

    •  Nepal,
    • Bangladesh,
    • Sri Lanka,
    • Singapore,
    • Ethiopia and
    • United Arab Emirates (U.A.E)  
  • As per the GATE eligibility criteria for CE, there is no limit on the number of attempts in the exam. Candidates can give the exam any number of times as they desire.
