Deoband is an Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband, one of the huge Islamic institutions in India, is situated there. It is a city and municipality in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, India, about 150 km from Delhi.

  • The 16th-century Hindu saint Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu and founder of the Vrindavan-based Radhavallabh Vaishnava sampradaya was born in Deoband.
  • Deoband is given as a pargana in the Ain-i-Akbari under the Saharanpur sarkar, producing 6,477,977 dams revenue for the imperial treasury and supplying a force of 300 foot and 60 cavalries. At that time, a brick fortress stood here.
