Sikkim has the Least Population in India. Among the union territories, Lakshadweep also has a very small population. According to the Census of 2011, the population of Lakshadweep is 64473, and Sikkim has a population of 607,688. Hence, Sikkim is considered the least populous state in India. In the same census, Uttar Pradesh has declared the most populous state, with a population of 19.06 crores.

If we consider the whole country, the lowest population is Lakshadweep, but when you only consider states, Sikkim has the lowest population. The capital and largest city of Sikkim is Gangtok. Sikkim’s economy depends on tourism, and it has the 3rd smallest GDP among the Indian States as of the 2014 data.
Sikkim shares its border with 3 countries, viz., China, Nepal, and Bhutan. Due to this, Sikkim is crucial to the country’s geopolitics. It plays an important role because of its complicated border. Khangchendzonga National Park covers 35% of the state area. It is famous for its tourist locations and beautiful landscapes on which the majority of its economy depends.
