The latitude that divides India into two equal halves is 23° 30’ N. Latitude that Divides India into Two Equal Halves

Latitude is a coordinate used in geography that describes a point’s north-south location on the surface of the Earth or another celestial body. Latitude is measured as an angle, with 0° at the Equator and values ranging from -90° at the south pole to 90° at the north pole.

23° 30’ N latitude is known as the Tropic of Cancer. The other latitudes are the Tropic of Capricorn (23½° S), Arctic Circle at 66½° north of the equator, and Antarctic Circle at 66½° south of the equator. The area under the Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle in the Northern Hemisphere has moderate temperatures. Therefore, this zone is called Temperate Zones.

The country is split in half by the Tropic of Cancer; the portion of the country south of it is in the Tropical region, and the portion north of it is in the Sub-tropical region.
