Which is the Highest Rank in Indian Police?

The Director-General of Police (DGP) is the highest ranking in Indian Police Services. The top law enforcement official in the Indian States and UTs holds a three-star rank. The council chose only IPS officers to serve as DGPs. IPS Officers with at least 33 years of service are often considered for this position. The DGP, also known as the State Police Chief, is the typical head of state. Officers with the rank of DGP may occupy equivalent positions in the CBI, CRPF, etc.

Highest Rank in Indian Police
The Director-General of Police is the head of state and is the highest rank in the Indian Police Services. It is a three-star rank and the DGPs are appointed by the Indian Police Service Cabinet. The Commissioner of Police can hold the rank of Additional DGP, IGP or DIGP. The powers of an executive magistrate are granted to the commissioner of police. One to more Joint Commissioners of Police assists the Commissioner of Police.
The DGP known as the State Police Chief mainly heads the UT or state police forces. The cabinet of the Indian Police Services personnel appoints DGP. DGP doesn’t report to the commissioner of police. They report to the cabinet minister of the State.
