The country of India has the most tigers in the world. India, Malaysia, South Korea, and Bangladesh have tigers as their national animals. They are the largest living cat species and members of the genus Panthera. According to the ‘All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018,’ India’s tiger population is estimated to be 2,967. Currently, India is home to 75% of the world’s tiger population.

Country with Most Tigers
In 1973, Indira Gandhi established several tiger reserves as part of Project Tiger. The Nagarjunagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve is India’s largest tiger reserve, spanning five districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On the other hand, the Hukaung Valley in Myanmar is the world’s largest tiger reserve.
The tiger reserves in India are regulated by the National Tiger Conservation Authority. As of now, there are 53 tiger reserves in India.
