The City of Bengaluru is known as the Garden City of India. This is because of Bangalore’s climate, which is primarily cool throughout the year, with only occasional heat waves during summer. It is said that the city received this unique nickname of the garden city from the 24th Maharaja of the kingdom of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wodeyar.

In 2017, the government of India announced that it would make Bangalore, or present-day Bengaluru, the first garden city of India to reduce pollution and traffic congestion by increasing greenery in the city. Bengaluru is the capital of Karnataka and is also known as the IT hub of the country.
Back in the day, a ruler of Mysore called Hyder Ali liked the climate of Bangalore and planted a garden called ‘Lalbagh’ to add to its beauty. Even during British rule, a lot of greenery was added to the city, which earned it the nickname of the garden city of India.
