The Gahora was the capital of Raja Veersingh Dev. The home base of Bundela Rajput leader Raja Veersingh Dev was Gahora. From 1605 until 1627, he was the ruler of Orchha and one of the most prominent kings. Raja Veersingh Dev Bundela ruled Orchha. In the History of the Bundela Dynasty, the time period of Raja Bundela is considered the Golden Period. It is said that the Bundela Architecture was at its peak when Raja Veer Singh was ruling Orchha.

Orchha saw a golden age of architecture under Raja Veer Singh.
