Most of the iron and steel plants are located in the region which is spread over four states namely Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. This area is home to all of the significant steel centres, including Bhilai, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Burnpur, Bokaro, and Rourkela. Other steel centres in South India include Bhadravati and Vijaynagar in Karnataka, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Salem in Tamil Nadu.
