The Types of Drainage Patterns are Dendritic drainage pattern, Parallel drainage pattern, Trellis drainage pattern, Rectangular drainage pattern, Radial drainage pattern, Centripetal drainage pattern, Deranged drainage pattern, Annular drainage pattern, and Angular drainage pattern.
A drainage pattern is a pattern created by stream erosion over time that gives information about the types of rocks and geological features in an area of terrain drained by streams.

Types of Drainage Patterns
Based on their texture and shape, drainage patterns or traps are classified. The topography and underlying geology of the area affect how they develop in shape or pattern. Where there is more surface runoff and soil erosion is more likely, drainage channels can form.
Various Drainage Patterns include the following:

Drainage Patterns
The pattern formed by rivers, streams, and lakes in a specific drainage basin is known as a drainage pattern. They are controlled by the topography of the land, the slope of the land, and whether a certain area is dominated by hard or soft rocks.
- In areas where the rock (or non-aggregated material) below the stream has no particular fabric or structure and can erode equally quickly in all directions, the dendritic pattern is by far the most prevalent type.
- Where sedimentary rocks are inclined or tilted and then eroded to varying degrees depending on their strength, trellis drainage patterns generally occur.
- In areas with limited topography and in networks of faults known to be bed planes, fractures, or rectangular, there are patterns called rectangles.
- A network of rivers known as a parallel drainage system is brought about by steep slopes with some relief.
- In a radial drainage system, streams flow outward from a central high point.
- The main difference between the two drainage systems is that the radial drainage system flows outwards while the centripetal drainage system flows inwards.
- When there is no clear pattern for rivers and lakes in drainage basins, the drainage system is said to be disorganized.
- Wherever base joins and faults join at more acute angles than the rectangular drainage pattern, angular drainage patterns are formed.
