The Qutub Minar was completed by the famous ruler Iltutmish. Even though Qutab-ud-din Aibak began work on the Qutub Minar in 1193, his son-in-law Sham ud-Din Iltutmish, the first Muslim king to rule from Delhi, finished building it. The Qutb Minar, sometimes called Qutub Minar and Qutab Minar, is a minaret and “victory tower” that is a component of the Qutb complex. It is located in South Delhi, India’s Mehrauli neighborhood, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Who Constructed the Qutub Minar?

He was the third Mamluk emperor to dominate the former Ghurid territories in northern India. He is regarded as the influential founder of the Delhi Sultanate since he was the only Muslim sultan to flee from Delhi. With Arabic and Brahmi inscriptions, this 12th-century minaret is regarded as India’s first Islamic building.

  • The Delhi Sultanate was established in 1200 AD by Qutb al-Din Aibak, who also began construction on the Qutb Minar. The pinnacle was increased by three floors by Aibak’s successor and son-in-law in 1220.
  • In 1192, Qutub-ud-Din Aibak created a model of the Qutub Minar, but he could only finish the cellar.
  • Later, Iltutmish, his successor, took over the development and created three further pinnacle accounts. Firoz Shah Tuglak built the last two stories in 1368.
  • The sublime Qutub Minar, a 73-meter-tall tower, was built in 1193 by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak.
  • The summit was built to observe Muslim dominance in Delhi following the destruction of the final Hindu standard in the city.
  • The Ghurids, who immigrated to India and brought Islam with them, planned and contributed to the building of the Qutb Minar. The Ghurids, formerly known as the Shansabanis, were a Tajik-speaking clan that originated in the mountainous Ghur region of present-day western Afghanistan.
  • This nomadic clan’s various sects merged in the late eleventh to early twelfth centuries, erasing its nomadic culture. They also embraced Islam at this time.
