Kathak is the type of dance that depicts a “Katha” or a story. The costumes of the Kathak dance vary among the Hindu and Muslim cultures. In Hindu culture, the female Kathak performer wears a saree, blouse, scarf, and jewelry typically of gold for the face, ear, neck, hand, wrist, and ankle. On the other hand, in the Muslim culture, costumes for female Kathak dancers include skirts, churidar pyjamas, a scarf, a long coat covering the hands and the upper body, and light jewelry.
